Opinion of The Week

So, as of today, Avengers is the thirteenth highest grossing movie, right ahead of The Hunger Games. People are already starting to talk about where this movie is going to place when everything is all said and done.

I think we’re going to see it definitely break top ten. I’m not sure about top five, but it’s a possibility. Right now, it’s all about staying power. It has several hundred million to go if it wants to be at the top, so now we have to see how dedicated the fans are to the film.

For me, the only detraction is that this movie is also released in 3D, and with the higher ticket price, it’s not exactly like the movie is being seen by more people.

When you adjust for inflation, the highest grossing movie is still Gone With The Wind, followed by Star Wars.

Weekly Comic Review

This week, Avengers VS X-Men: Verses – Issue 2 was released. It was a fun issue! The entire Avengers VS X-Men saga has been a blast. Check it out! I’d say more about the issue, but it’s really all about characters fighting, and goes pretty light on plot!

And that’s not a negative! If you’re looking for a mindless smash-up, this is your title!

TV & Film Portfolio

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been talking about the big comic book movies making their way to theaters this summer.

I’ve talked about: The Avengers, Men In Black 3, and The Amazing spider-Man. Today, I’m talking about: The Dark Knight Rises.

I have some serious doubts about this one. I’m looking forward to it, but the more previews I see, the less I’m liking it. The movie seems too serious. Nolan has always wanted to show a so-called “real” version of Batman, but doing that takes away from some of the exciting fantastic elements of the character.

I liked the first two movies. But I’m not sure about this one. It seems like this is going to be Nolan’s version of Knightfall…

The truth is, we’ve really only seen bits and pieces. I’m expecting it to be good, but if it isn’t that won’t be a surprise. What I am sure about is that I’m ready for Nolan to wrap is version of the character. It’s been fun, but I’m ready for a new take. Something that embraces all elements of the character. And hopefully, a version that includes Robin!
